Today Jason and I went to lunch at Shanghai Gate, a Chinese restaurant in Allston.  Without asking we were served tea.  What a special treat!  I cannot identify the tea for you, but I can say it was delightful.  It came in a silver serving teapot with porcelain white tea cups, and it had a floral aftertaste.  I asked the waitress, who spoke very little English, what type of tea they served, and unfortunately I could not make sense of what she said even after asking her to repeat herself, so now i am left wondered what it was.  The tea did not quite go with my crispy tofu with sweet chef’s sauce, but I did enjoy it was Jason’s scallion beef.  I was hoping to forgo meat today, but alas, it was not to be.
